4:53p - Ren Fest
So I got the basic black beading done on Andrew's doublet done, (something that has taken me two years to getting around to finishing it) a nice pattern of diamonds narrowing down into a "V" shape across his torso. I have 250 garnet colored bicone swarovski crystals(over a hundred dollars worth--but at least I got them on sale) Those will go into each crossing of the black bugle beads. I figure those will go faster, only a few days once I get into the groove/have the time.... Andrew tried it on and asked "When will get around to beading it all over?" I was just astonished!!!! I had thought I had made it pretty clear when laying it out that the beading was only going to be in that pattern(I understand I may have kept it in my head) and I told him that I would do something simular down the back, and he says " I would like the "wings"(epulets) beaded then as well." I think my jaw was about to hit the floor. I have little patience as it is and little time and he doesn't seem to understand how time consuming it can be to bead this thing so far!!!
I am going to the local ren fest this weekend and I am reworking my court dress, I have made a new bodice, the English kind with the square neck. I am taking some advise from Yosa, since I don't have to conform to Jim's ideas(yay) I am making do with a victorian styled corset and I draped a bodice to fit, already I love the look of it! I am beading it in a hurry and taking some shortcuts. I am also wishing I had not beaded the girdle to the bottom of the old bodice since now I can't take it off and use it, but I tell you what, it was the only thing on my bodice that ever looked right to me. I love my skirt and I am not changing anything to it, I may take a petticoat to wear over my hoops...er, they got a little funky.. the boning has gotten twisted in storage...
I borrowed 7 brides for 7 brothers to listen to/watch while sewing... bad mistake!! I enjoy the movie so much I forget to do what I am supposed to.
In the meantime, I am trying to figure on attaching sleeves to my new bodice and odds and ends of that nature.
oh, btw- did I mention that I need to be done with this by tonight for wearing in the morning....
last minute heroics
